Introducing emotional intelligence to project managers
(Workshop Friday, 14:00-17:30. Maximum 20 participants).
Project Managers depend on others to get the work done. Therefore successfully managing projects requires much more than technical skills. It also involves dealing with people, developing relationships, building teams, and motivating them, as well as influencing, collaborating, negotiating and managing conflicts. Emotional Intelligence significantly contributes to these kinds of behaviors. Thus, this workshop is designed to provide an overview of emotional intelligence and how it applies to the project management context. We will start with an individual assessment that reveals the strong and weak spots for each participant, followed by a discussion on how it impacts their relationships and the project’s success. Finally, we will use some group exercises to demonstrate different emotional intelligence competencies in action.

We will watch TED talks about relevant topics and moderate a World Café. Everyone will be organized in small groups and we will have discussions on several themes. This will contribute to the idea of handling information from different sources and make the synapses between the different backgrounds participants have in this workshop. Alexandra Klobouk is a young graphic designer and illustrator based in Berlin. She has studied in Berlin, Istanbul and Potsdam and is highly interested in intercultural exchange and visual communication.
Studying at the HPI School of Design Thinking in Potsdam, she learned to cherish the dynamics and enrichment of multidisciplinarity, creative chaos and structure, such as fun and respect as the engine to creative team work. She has worked on a design thinking project with the „Vision Summit“- international Conference for Social Business - enhancing participation and enabling entrepreneurs on the VS 2010.
The learnings from this project will be implemented in the Open Space, which she organises together with Estuardo Calderon.
As well, she will support the creACTivity workshop with graphic recording, a method of visualizing content. Visual reception is the strongest way of human knowledge transfer and by following the graphic protocol we can update our selfes about the various workshops, as well as conversations and discussions around them.
Alexandra Klobouk is working as design thinker at “invented here”, the agency formed by HPI design thinking allumnis 2010. This October she is publishing a bilingual illustrated book about Istanbul culture - „Istanbul, mit scharfe Soße?“ (Istanbul, with hot sauce? - a book for all those, who don´t have clue either).

The possibilities of embedding such technology in the corporate world are endless, and the peformers are currently exploring this opportunity to put some color into brainstorming sessions within businesses!
