As a young project manager you are generally thrown into many challenges, either on one's own or with the support of a mentor. But is it the same problems you face as a "green" project manager compared to the older and more experienced ones? - Not always.
In the beginning you may be mistaken for the assistant or a trainee. You may risk that the older project participants don't respect what you do or say and get replies like: "I know better" or "by the way, this is how we have been doing for the last 30 years".
A day in the life of a Young Crew Member
You in Germany are recieving a call from a member in Spain who is sitting in Austria during the call. He is trying to shedule a meeting with a YC member from Canada who is in Australia at the moment. Working on a project. Now, how to manage to get all three people to meet at the same time. This is fun! By the way: we are offering help for that in our download area.

Young Crew Germany
Young Crew Germany is a network of young project managers, either young of age or with relative small project management experience. The network was established first in 1992 and constituted anew in February 2008 to promote the knowledge of and interest in project management and to support and inspire young project managers and at the same time to create a forum for networking and socializing. Due to this we phrased our vision and self conception:
- We fascinate and connect young people for and within the area of project management.
- We are a forum for a generation-spanning dialogue at eye level.
- We develop ourselves and others to experts within the area of project management (cf. ICB 3.0). (internal and external perspective).
- We offer a breeding ground for innovative ideas and different perspectives
- Innovation in project management
- Innovative projects
- Project management in new areas
- We develop sustainable functions and role-structures.
- By attending our stimulating events you will get access to other young project managers in your situation with whom you will be able to share experiences and get inspiration for further personal and professional development.
To become a member of the Young Crew you need to enroll at the German Association for Project Management (GPM) where you also will obtain access to a wide range of other events aimed at all levels of experience in project management. The annual fee is 25 €.
